It takes courage to trust lines on a page when faced with such a tired nineteenth-century farmhouse that already has four tacked on additions.
Together with The Landing Company that courage was leveraged to create a completely re-imagined layout – public, private and work zones, with “kid’s land” upstairs. Those drawings promised sight-lines from the front entry through the house and the dramatic great room windows to the acres of fields beyond. The low window sills claimed to extend the interior space to the outside where a porch wrapped around three sides.
The reward of that courage went even further. The suspended pergolas combined with newly balanced windows and dormers succeeded in linking the properties farming roots to a vibrant yet relaxed, family lifestyle – an industrial farmhouse.
