This project grew from a kitchen project to a family room project when the owner tore out the existing fireplace and cabinets over Christmas. You can imagine my surprise when he asked me to design a new wall. Once the decision was made, the carpenter was left with the task of transforming old reclaimed planks into precise contemporary display cases. It was a genuine artisan achievement. The compound curves of the fireplace where complex in a different way – they needed to match the exhaust hood in the kitchen.
